Da Cheetah is one of only two Shuttleworth designed Ocean Cheetah 38 catamarans in the world. Immediately after purchase in Fareham the owners fitted a new mast, upgraded the engines, and improved the boats equipment to a safe level to allow her to be sailed to Troon (Scotland). She has been sailed since then in Scottish waters both on the inner and outer west coast. Above deck the main sail control was improved with a full width track, and a safety rail installed on the transom. The steps at the stern were modified. The hydraulic steering was routed out of sight and fitted with an autohelm. The steering position was improved with a carefully thought out binnacle creating a service space and an angled surface for the nav equipment. Winches were improved and added to for using the Parasailor. Solar panels were installed with two controllers serving each domestic battery bank separately. UPS units were added to avoid damage to the heating system in the event of a power cut from shore power. Sonic antifouling has also been installed. The interior uses cellite honeycomb panels curved to follow the hull shapes to maximise space. This allowed for the fitting of a heads compartment in both hulls. The saloon deck, with large surround windows installed, has seating for eight, with the chart table incorporated. The galley is built on a mezzanine platform to the port side that retains headroom while keeping the utility of the lower hulls unaffected. The two double stern cabins are provided with sprung wooded bed slats and thick foam mattresses. The interior of Da Cheetah is fully functional after a full rebuild of the vessels interior after its purchase as a project boat. But not all the desirable cosmetics were completed at this time as the family wanted to go sailing. To fully achieve Da Cheetah’s potential, the headlinings and wall linings need to be added and some of the saloon soft furnishings replaced. Notwithstanding, Da Cheetah is a comfortable well equipped boat looking for a handy owner to complete the work.�
